I am a wife, mother of two very active boys, figure competitor and Certified Crossfit trainer. I understand the demands of balancing a busy life with the desire to stay fit, healthy, strong and energized. The exact reasons why “I love CrossFit.”

I cannot remember a time when I was not interested or involved in health and fitness. One of my first jobs at the age of 16 was working at Gold’s Gym in Florida. After many years in the gym industry trying many different workout routines, I finally became bored with the slow isometric movements of traditional exercising.

I voiced my opinion to a trainer who introduced me to CrossFit’s "Filthy Fifty" for my first workout. I was so exhausted after 30 minutes I went home and collapsed for a two-hour nap! When I woke up, I was totally hooked. It was that kind of intensity that I had been searching for – “Intense, Challenging and Effective.” Six months later, I attended a CrossFit level 1 certification in Jacksonville, Florida. Now I get the joy of sharing the challenge and passion of CrossFit with others on a daily basis through the WOD (workout of the Day).

I am committed to staying in shape. Live a full life and help others do the same through the community of CrossFit. I am a professional... Take your body to the next level – make the “Crossfit Commitment.”

CrossFit Trainer, Level 1

After spending over 15 years with traditional “body builder” type of workouts, I became interested in CrossFit based on a conversation with my wife who had just seen and spoken with Alicia Drew, CrossFit Power Performance’s other trainer. I was intrigued by Alicia’s experiences & results and after a live conversation with her, decided to give CrossFit a 60 day trial period. I was absolutely amazed by the immediate results and instantly converted to 100% CrossFit workouts. As a result of that decision and the switch to CrossFit workouts, I am in the best fitness condition of my life.

Since college, I have had an ongoing interest in fitness & health. That interest combined with a passion for CrossFit led me to pursue and complete my Level 1 CrossFit certification. My experiences with CrossFit ignited a desire to teach CrossFit to others and share the incredible results and fitness levels possible with a workout program focused on constantly varied, functional movements completed at high intensity. In addition to my commitment to CrossFit, I am dedicated to a healthy diet. You cannot truly realize the benefits and fitness levels possible with CrossFit (or any fitness program) without properly fueling and nourishing your body.

My primary passion in life is my family. I have a beautiful wife, Lisa, and two beautiful daughters, Alexa and Miya. In fact, I need CrossFit just to keep up with all my girls! In addition to fitness, my other sport addiction is downhill skiing, which is completely maximized in Ohio (not). Actually, once a year, my wife and I try to go out west to enjoy skiing the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

If you are ready to challenge yourself, push yourself beyond your mental limitations and reach fitness levels that you have never achieved previously, then you are ready to step up to CrossFit.

3.2.1. GO!

CrossFit Trainer, Level 1

patxLike many CrossFit enthusiasts, I spent most of my life in the typical corporate-fiteness, large-franchise gyms doing pretty much the same thing from age 23 to to 45. M-W was Chest/Shoulders, T-TH was Bi/Tri/Legs, blah blah. Bench press, rest, drink, bench, stare at TV, etc. The gyms were filled with rows people staring zombie-like at banks of TVS or flipping through magazines as they walked the treadmill. I was bulky, had a good deal of fat stored up, but in no way was I fit.

CrossFit introduced me to a new kind of workout. A workout where you are all-in, every time. A workout where if you have time to chit-chat between movements, you are not doing it right. A workout where you challenge yourself to do things that you never thought you could, stop worrying about the "mirror muscles" and concentrate on functional movements, done with high intensity,  with results that will enable you to approach life everyday in a more fit way. After seeing my own transformation not only physically but mentally, i became a huge CrossFit junkie and decided to take it one step further, to become a trainer.

CrossFit is not about the mirror muscles. CrossFit is about becoming fit in ways you never imagined, and the mirror will follow. I hope to see you in the gym soon.

Fun Facts about me:

My CrossFit journey began where all good things begin, on a rooftop bar and grill in Chicago. After spending the last few years messing around with traditional weightlifting and training for marathons I was ready for something mentally challenging as well as physically challenging. I had stumbled on the CrossFit website prior to my trip to the Windy City after doing a Google search for "intense workouts" and was intrigued by what I saw. A few days later on a perfect fall evening I declared to my wife and good friend that I was going to take my fitness to the next level and dedicate myself to CrossFit. (We were all making predictions and goals because that's just what you're supposed to do on rooftops in Chicago.)

Well, that was almost three years ago and CrossFit has definitely taken my fitness to another level. It has been the perfect transition for me and has allowed me to do things I never thought were possible. Recently, I completed my Level 1 Certification, which only affirmed my beliefs in the power of the program. CrossFit has evolved from a challenge to a hobby to a passion for me and I want to help spread the word and positively effect all those to want to drink the CrossFit Kool Aid.

Personally, I am married with three lovely and energetic daughters who keep me on my toes, but who have also been very supportive in this adventure. I am a middle school administrator and have been a teacher and a coach. I am fueled by helping others achieve their goals and look forward to helping you reach yours.

Since discovering CrossFit nearly 1 1/2 years ago (March 2009), I have been incorporating the workouts of the day (WOD) into my workout regimen. I continued doing the typical weight training and cardio routines 3-4 days a week and a CrossFit workout 1-2 days a week. I continued this schedule for 6-8 months. I began to see some definite improvements, but again plateaued. It wasn't until 4 months ago (March 2010) I joined Power Performance and the breakthrough occured. Working out in the group setting, and making CrossFit my primary workout philosophy was exactly what I needed to launch my fitness level to new heights. The daily WOD's combined with a zone based "clean" diet has allowed me to achieve goals I've been striving for since I began working out nearly 15 years ago. I continue to set new PRs (personal records) regularly. CrossFit has become a HUGE part of my life!

As a firefighter/paramedic my level of physical fitness is paramount to my ability and success on emergency incidents. CrossFit has better prepared me (physically and mentally) for my profession, as well as life in general. I began to share my knowledge of CrossFit methodology to fellow firefighters. Several began to join me in the daily WOD's. Seeing their improvements, and knowing I played a small part in their success, was rewarding beyond any personal accomplishment in recent history. I knew then that I wanted to be a CrossFit trainer. If you are willing to commit, myself and the other talented trainers can help you achieve fitness levels you never thought possible. No matter your fitness or exercise background!!
